Video from Chiwaya Wedding, Sept. 8,2012

This is one of the first videos I edited myself, I concentrated on the transitions of each song. I really want you to get the feel of how my party flows and transitions from song to song. A lot of DJ companies only show video with music that's places on top of footage with all the highlights and never play the actual audio from the party.

Once the "The twist' start playing to the end of the video, it's 28 minutes of non stop partying. It just minimize because I can't upload that much of time on YouTube.

I would appreciate some comments and feedback.

Enjoy,

Enrique

Weddingi at Lippincott Manor in Wallkill, NY with DJ

On September 8, 2012 BTL DJs headed out to Wallkill, NY, 89 miles away from NYC.  Upon arriving the weather was sunny and seemed like the beginnings of what was going to be a beautiful outdoor ceremony.  After setting up the main set up in the reception tent at the Lippincott Manor the weather took a drastic turn.

So many things cannot be helped when your in the wedding business, but this wedding proved to BTL DJs that anything really can happen.  Within 15 minutes of arrival a tornado warning came into affect for Ulster County.  We quickly had to take action.  We had to lower the speakers and try to protect the equipment as well as we could.  Ten minutes before the wedding was suppose to commence all our equipment was covered in plastic and lifted off the ground.

Then the storm struck.  It was quite terrifying, it made covering the equipment seem pointless.  The venue managers were directing everyone to their cars to take cover.

The storm eventually stopped, but left quite a few people rattled.  We quickly reset all the equipment and started to play classic jazz music.  We assisted the wedding coordinator and Tricia, the venue mangaer, to quickly get the wedding started.

The ceremony for Sarah and Nigel Chwaya was moved indoors and began 30 minutes later than scheduled, but it went on without a hitch. After the lovely ceremony, cocktail hour went into full swing.  The tornado became an afterthought as cocktail hour ended and everyone danced the night away at the reception.

New Music- Alicia Keys "New Day" / David Guetta "Where Dem Girlz At"

Great new song by Alicia keys that I heard a few weeks back. I plan on adding this to my suggestion list for wedding party introductions. I'm also going to to add this to my  recessional music for the ceremony. This would work for couples who are looking to go a liitle modern with there music. I have attached the video below with lyrics for your enjoyment.

Here's a track from David Gutta called "Where Dem Girlz At" that we might have heard a million times in the last two years.  This song would be perfect for the bouquet toss at weddings.  I know many brides are looking to go in a different direction then Beyonce's "Single Ladies" for the toss.   I have attached the video below with lyrics for your enjoyment.

Enjoy,

Enrique

Wedding at The Meadows with DJ

This weekend my fiance, our 2 Yorkie's (Elvis & Stella), and I headed down to Hallertown, PA for a wedding at the The Meadows. We left New York City and headed west on Friday afternoon and arrived at our hotel at 4:00pm in Bethlehem, PA.  Since we had the night off on Friday, after checking into our hotel we headed straight to dinner at Emeril's Chop House located in the Sands Casino. The food was amazing and the prices were great, in New York we would have paid slightly more.

Saturday morning after a free breakfast courtesy of the Comfort Suites, I headed to the venue to set up my equipment for Mike & Jennifer's wedding reception which was going to start at 4:30pm.  The set-up was smooth and easy. I was surprised how many staff members The Meadows had at 10:00am where there were no day events planned. They were easy to work with and I even went over the agenda with the maitre'd Nancy who is a very sweet person.

I arrived back to the venue at 4:00pm to start the pre ceremony music. There was no specific instruction on what to play for this time, so I decided to play some Jazz instrumentals.  Mike & Jenifer had the wedding party walk down the aisle to Johann Pachelbel's "Canon In D", the slower
part of the song. Jennifer herself walked into the same song but to the louder and faster part. The recessional song they selected was "A Midsummer Night's Dream" By  Felix Mendelssohn

For the father /daughter dance the selection was "Butterfly Kisses" By Bob Carllisle.  Our Groom selected "Mama" by Boys II Men for the mother/son dance. Mike and Jennifer selected "For you" By Kenny Lattimore for there first dance as husband and wife. After going over many songs together they were still undecided. Mike's mother actually pick the song out for her son and new daughter in law after hearing it for the first time they knew the song was special.

When it was time to open the dance floor, I started with some bachata music then I went into some Motown music. At that point the dance floor became really crowded, I believe everyone in attendance was on the dance floor. My last record that I played from the Motown era was "This Old heart of mine" by the Isley Brothers. Following this song I transitioned into some top 40 by starting with "I gotta feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas. The reason why I choose this song is because the age difference of the crowd, there were people ranging from 25- 65 but the majority of people ranged in there 30-40's. I wanted to keep everyone on the dance floor so I played some top 40 for about 20 minutes. After that I decided to go back to Spanish that's when I transitioned into merengue music. After playing a few menergue songs I played "We are Young" by Fun with a fast upbeat intro which completely cleared the dance floor :( . I was upset that I just cleared the dance floor and was getting ready to play a slow song to change the pace of the music.  When the chorus came through the speakers the crowd realized they made a mistake. Some ran back on dance floor and some just screamed the chorus from wherever they were at in the room. This made me feel better, I was thinking to myself "people in Pa must not really like this song or they must not know this at all. After this song I still decided to change the pace and played  "Unforgettable" By Nat King Cole.

The rest of the night was great and I had so much fun on this beautiful first day of September about 90 miles west of New York City. I was thankful I had the privilege to entertain the family, friends and guest of Mr. & Mrs. Jennifer and Michael Ortiz.
